For and by people living with HIV
Hiv-Sverige is a national umbrella organization that works for people living with and affected by HIV. We bring together associations, activists and stakeholders that are non-partisan and non-religious. The organization was founded in 1990 and our work is based on the equal value of all. Information, counseling, peer support and advocacy are central to our work.
Our vision is a better life with HIV and a society where everyone can participate on equal terms.
Our objectives
Our overall goal is to improve the living conditions of people living with and affected by HIV.
HIV-Sweden will:
be a strong advocate for people living with and affected by HIV
increase the level of knowledge about HIV in society and contribute to possible pathways to a good life with HIV.
be an influential advocate on issues related to HIV, quality of life and living conditions in society.
Core values
HIV-Sweden's activities and focus are based on some fundamental values.
Human rights apply to everyone and we are committed to the equal value of all persons and their right to the best possible health.
HIV-Sweden rejects all forms of stigmatization and discrimination against people living with HIV and discriminatory legislation and practices.
People living with HIV have the absolute right to speak for themselves and key groups in HIV prevention should always be meaningfully involved in issues that affect them.
Our organization
Hiv-Sweden brings together associations and individuals who want to work to improve the living conditions of all people living with HIV in Sweden.

The highest decision-making body is the annual meeting. Among other things, it elects representatives to the Board of HIV-Sweden. The annual meeting consists of delegates from the member associations and individual members. The ordinary annual meeting is held every year before the end of April.
-
Between two ordinary annual meetings, the Board is the highest decision-making body. At least half of the board's members and deputies are people living with HIV. All representatives are elected by the annual meeting, including the chair and treasurer. The Board constitutes itself. The Board meets at least four times a year and has overall responsibility for its activities.
-
The Executive Committee (EC) takes decisions based on a delegation scheme between Board meetings. The Working Committee (AU) is appointed by the Board and consists of the Chair and at least one other member.
-
The organizational meeting is an advisory body to the board of HIV-Sweden. Representatives from our member associations meet at least twice a year and discuss the main issues and direction of the activities.
